He sighs as they move again, at a quicker pace this time. He follows, quietly for a while, letting his thoughts swallow him. Soon, he's a little winded and the other two are falling farther behind but he keeps up with Kai's pace, maybe out of spite, maybe simply because he feels he can't... not.
He also can tell that recognising Kai as someone specific isn't a good idea, so he abandons that line of thinking. For now. Instead he ventures a conversational gambit that is much easier for all parties involved: "You like to be out here?"
